Facebook reveals exactly how it tracks non users Around the web

Following Mark Zuckerberg's admission at his Senate hearing last week that Facebook tracks users and non-users alike, the company has issued a clarification, reiterating that the company doesn’t sell people’s data, “period”.

According to Facebook’s Product Management Director, David Baser, the company gets its data about web-users through social plugins (‘Share’ and ‘Like’ buttons), Facebook login, Facebook Analytics, and various other tools.

He also says that the reason why Facebook receives data on non-users is "because other apps and sites don’t know who is using Facebook".

He also cites the example of other online platforms, such as Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google and Amazon, to justify tracking all users across the web even if they are logged out of Facebook or don't have a Facebook account in the first place.
